[Comment] Blood pressure lowering trials: wrapping up the topic?

After years of recommendations for a low target blood pressure in hypertensive patients, particularly those with diabetes or previous cardiovascular or renal disease, major guidelines on hypertension management1–4 released since 2013 have re-evaluated the concept of the lower the better (ie, the lower the systolic and diastolic blood pressure achieved, the better the patient outcome). The target blood pressure was raised for high-risk patients, particularly for those with or at high risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) and elderly patients.
