[Correspondence] A scorecard for tracking actions to reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases

The global pandemic of non-communicable diseases (NCD), which is progressing most rapidly in low-income and middle-income countries, led the UN to hold a high level meeting in 2011 and issue a political declaration on the need to counter the pandemic.1 The declaration included more than 90 actions that member states should be taking. Subsequently WHO issued a set of voluntary targets, including reducing deaths under 70 years from NCD by 25% by 2025.2
