For every 10 000 people invited to screening, 46 men are prevented from dying from a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm.1 This low absolute risk reduction is one of the main arguments against screening for abdominal aortic aneurysms, as discussed by Minna Johansson and colleagues in their Viewpoint (Jan 16, p 308).1
