[Correspondence] vaccination

In their phase 3 randomised controlled trial, Ming Zeng and colleagues (Oct 10, p 1457)1 report the results of an oral recombinant Helicobacter pylori vaccine with an efficacy of 71·8% (95% CI 48·2–85·6) in the first year in children aged 6–15 years. H pylori naivety was associated with younger age (849 [82%] of 1032 children aged 6–7 years vs 1188 [76%] of 1573 children aged 12–15 years), suggesting that this factor might be relevant in protection and acquisition of H pylori throughout childhood.
