[Perspectives] Tolullah Oni: public health specialist with a global ambition
“Will the next Einstein be an African woman?” asked the Huffington Post in a story published last month. If the answer turns out to be yes, this reincarnation could be Tolullah (Tolu) Oni, Senior Lecturer in the Division of Public Health Medicine at the University of Cape Town (UCT). The aim of the Huff’s headline was simply to draw attention to the Next Einstein Forum (NEF), an organisation “working to make Africa a global hub for science and technology”. One of NEF’s projects is the annual selection of a group of young African scientists and technologists who have already proved their talent, and will use a year-long fellowship not only to advance their careers, but also to serve as role models for others.
