[Comment] Hysteroscopy before IVF: can it improve outcomes?

Despite clear breakthroughs with in-vitro fertilisation (IVF), factors contributing to successful implantation in assisted reproduction are still relatively unknown. Even in the best case scenario of good prognosis after selection of the best embryos, pregnancy rates only reach 66%,1 suggesting that the uterus plays a more important role than has been previously thought. In The Lancet, two studies address the importance of the morphological evaluation of the uterus through assessment of the effect of office hysteroscopy on IVF outcomes in women undergoing IVF for the first time2 and in women with recurrent implantation failure.
