[Comment] Reforming mental health in China and India

In The Lancet, Fiona J Charlson and colleagues1 use data from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2013 to show the substantial disease burden associated with mental, neurological, and substance use disorders, as well as the probable health service and workforce challenges that will continue to emerge in the coming decades for both China and India. According to their new analysis, the two most populous nations in the world, India and China, account for 32% of the disease burden of global mental, neurological, and substance use disorders, which is greater than that in all developed countries combined.
