[Correspondence] Datafication of medical device use for training and device design

I read with interest the Comment by Bruce Campbell and colleagues (June 2, p 2194).1 The authors have identified the requirement for greater long-term, real-world data relating to medical devices.1,2 They point out the value that should accrue from linking large datasets such as those of medical device registries and health insurance claims. The linkage of Unique Device Identifiers to electronic patient records will enable performance of individual devices to be tracked and interpreted.
