[Correspondence] Female genital fistula repair – Authors’ reply

We thank Jeremy Wright and colleagues for their comments on our study.1 The proportion of fistula repair breakdowns that we reported for the primary outcome per-protocol analysis (4% in the 7 day group and 3% in the 14 day group) were not meant to be representative of the overall proportion of breakdowns in the study, nor reflective of the proportion of this outcome in clinical practice. The study design we used was instead to enable us to establish whether 7 day bladder catheterisation was not inferior to 14 days in terms of repair breakdown in women with simple fistula.
