Following the ongoing conflicts and crises in several countries in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, Europe faces a dramatic increase in the numbers of people making the dangerous journey across the central and eastern Mediterranean routes.1 Restrictive entry policies do not stop asylum seekers, refugees, and other migrants from trying to reach Europe, forcing people to take more risks, with negative consequences on their physical and mental health.
