[Correspondence] India’s medical education system hit by scandals

The World Report by Dinesh Sharma1 that described the sad state of corruption in India’s medical school entrance examination was quite thought provoking.1 A closer look at the situation brings out disappointing anecdotes, including parents prepared to spend large quantities of money for their children to pass medical entrance examinations, the involvement of criminal networks, and doctors and medical students actively participating in unethical activities such as sitting examinations in place of applicants.
