[Correspondence] Is discussion of dengue vaccination for the 2016 Olympics necessary?: Authors’ reply

Jose Arredondo-García and colleagues and Tino Schwarz have objected to our short caution concerning possible promiscuous use of the new Sanofi tetravalent live-attenuated dengue vaccine.1 In an ideal world, warnings supplemental to those issued by national or international authorities are not necessary. But, given the reassuring tenor of comments on the safety of Dengvaxia by the manufacturer, WHO’s Scientific Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE), and numerous others,2–5 we thought it important to inform the wider readership that the vaccine is not recommended for use in travellers.
