[Correspondence] Patient outcomes after screw fixation of hip fractures

We read the article by Mohit Bhandari and colleagues1 (April 15, p 1519) with great interest. Their trial compares the effect of a sliding hip screw versus cancellous screws on the risk of reoperation in patients with a low-energy hip fracture requiring fracture fixation. Other than what was stated in the title and in the summary, the article seems to focus only on femoral neck fractures and not on all hip fractures, which might be misleading. Furthermore, the authors reported several limitations, but we have found some more which must be considered.
