[Perspectives] Building health or health inequities?

The opening text of Living with Buildings, the accompanying book to a new Wellcome Collection exhibition of the same name, ends with a deeply affecting sentence that speaks to the UK’s Grenfell Tower tragedy. “Listen”, it says, “the wronged dead are already tapping at our window.” On June 14, 2017, the 24-floor building went up in flames, in full view of its neighbours in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, one of the UK’s wealthiest boroughs. 72 lives were lost, from an 84-year-old poetess to a baby boy stillborn in the hours after the disaster.
