[Perspectives] Something rich and strange
The entrance doors to the Wellcome Collection’s current exhibition have been painted matt black. Go through them, and you are immersed in further blackness, illuminated only by the spotlights directed at a large glowing object in the centre of the room. Move closer, and the glow resolves itself into the wreckage of a car—a 1967 Ford Mustang. But the wreck has itself been transformed, wrapped entirely with layer upon layer of fine copper wire. It is the copper that shines, reddish-gold, under the spotlights, and it is both astonishing and beautiful.
